Lately, Hailey is very into setting the table and making sure that we all sit down together. She is also the one that always reminds us if we forget to be thankful for our dinner. She will put her hands together and give you a look that means you better follow suit.

He came home from Scouts tonight in a torrential down pour and came upstairs to find me and make a joke about how he didn't think he could get much wetter. The boy is funny.

Two things that are currently driving me crazy. This giant cardboard shark that needs to be painted so it can be hung on the wall and leave the kitchen table and the cat that has taken up residence in its jaws.

A large part of Hailey's weekend was spent perfecting the art of blowing up a balloon. She is pretty proud of herself.

Our temperatures are warming up and the snow is starting to melt a bit. Hailey and Evan decided to go outside and take advantage of the white stuff while we still have it.

This is the time I am in bed and ready to go to sleep on a Friday night. Yes, I am officially old! Our weeks just wipe me out - by the time Friday comes around I am ready to sleep!

Hailey helping me prepare dinner by writing down all the ingredients for me. I can't believe how much better her penmanship has gotten within the last couple of months.

The kids were off school for Martin Luther King day. What better way to entertain themselves than with a bucket tied to a piece of string and a bunch of little toys to lower up and down?

Spencer took part in Allegretto Notte yesterday and today. Tonight we went to see him in his show. I can't believe how comfortable he is on the stage, because I would never be. I hope he continues to love it, because watching him up there makes me so proud.

I kept Hailey home from school today thinking she needed a mental health day and a bunch of rest. When she asked for a carrot and dip for a morning snack, I thought to myself that she was fine and I should have sent her to school. When the carrot and dip made a reappearance all over my bathroom a few hours later, I was glad she was home.
Looking at this picture I should have known she was pretty sick. Her eyes look all glassy.

Kyrie chalazion down the road that I must travel. Kyrie chalazion through the darkness of the night. The drops the opthamalogist gave us seem to be helping with the small chalazion in his right eye, not so much the left. Every time I put the drops in - four times a day - this is what Evan does for a few minutes while the drops work their way in.

As soon as Spencer walked in the door from school he bee lined it to the kitchen with his library book - a cookbook for kids. He was intent on making some ham and cheese rolls that he found the recipe for. As I have said before, I think all boys should know how to cook and it kept him off of Minecraft for a while.

After shopping today, Hailey asked if she could ride the pony. My initial reaction was to say no and get out of the store as quickly as I could, but then I realized that she is not at the store with me very much anymore and who knows how much longer it will be until the pony is not fun or cool anymore? I quickly handed her a penny.

We spent the morning playing the princess game that Hailey got for her birthday. As you can tell, Evan was thrilled to have his picture taken wearing a crown.

Hailey had her birthday party today at the paint your own pottery place in the mall. She had a great day celebrating with her friends.

Our pediatrician referred Evan to an opthomologist for a second opinion on his eye. This doctor still thinks it is a chalazion and that he has a small one in his right eye as well. He prescribed some drops that will hopefully take care of it, otherwise he will have to have a surgical procedure most likely in March. Ugh. Fingers crossed!

By some miracle the kids were finished with breakfast, teeth brushing and had all their stuff ready for school well before it was time for them to leave. It is a rare treat to get to watch TV in the morning.

Back to school means back to the nightly homework. I have to admit that I liked not having to deal with it.

I think it is very important for my boys to know their way around a kitchen. Trent was whipping them into shape tonight preparing dinner. Evan was excited about cutting up the chicken. I may have to call on his skills in the future since handling meat sort of grosses me out.

We took our tree down today and rearranged our great room for the first time in years. I am always sad to see the tree go, but something about a nice clean uncluttered house is very freeing.

We finally got out the cookie cutters to make our "Christmas" cookies today. Hailey was partial to this gingerbread man missing an arm and a leg. Spencer was witty enough to come up with a joke about how he must of had to spend a lot of money on something that cost him - an arm and a leg! Ha!

Trent took the boys to the library today to get their first library cards. Hopefully Spencer will be able to upload library books to his new Kindle.

We welcomed in the new year with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Our meat eater was all about devouring the turkey leg.
