A dusting
The couple of inches of snow we were supposed to get overnight didn't amout to much at all. Hailey and I did find some cute little bird tracks in the snow taking advantage of our newly filled feeder.

Evan was bored so he went to his room to find something to do. When I walked back into the room I found him reading his Bible. He told me that it would be hard for him to finish because there were a lot of pages and the words were very small.

Spencer and his DI group are having a bake sale tomorrow to raise money for the Humane Society. My job today was to bake three dozen of something to donate to their cause. I could never run a bake sale because the individual wrapping of the treats about drove me over the edge!

Spencer had a consult with the orthodontist today, so I had to keep him home from school this morning. Since he missed his lunch time, we stopped at McDonald's on the way back to school and got to eat INSIDE! Hailey always begs to eat inside the fast food place.

Better than Botox
Hailey woke up yesterday morning complaining that her tooth hurt. She got into the dentist today and he discovered part of her tooth or previous filling - I can't remember (bad mom) - had fallen out and he needed to fill/refill it. He had to numb her mouth. She has never had a numb mouth before so when we got home she told me that she could bite on her lip and not even feel it. I told her not to, because even though she couldn't feel it now, she would later. She must not have heeded my warning because a bit later her lip was a swollen, bloody pulp. It was so awful looking. Poor thing.

The gift that keeps on giving
Trent had a "snowday" today so we decided to use the time to research a bit about our phones. We decided we couldn't leave the store without purchasing a new iphone 4 for Trent so that means I get the iphone 3 as a hand me down. I don't do a lot with my phone, but I am so excited to be able to take photos and upload them right to Facebook or be able to send them to my email to use on the blog. It really is the little things.

Christmas tree 2.o
The boys built a snow fort today with help from Daddy. They decided to use our Christmas tree as part of the roof. Evan was super excited to play Man verses Wild.

And an arm workout to boot
I made my own laundry detergent today! I am very excited to see how it works and how long it lasts. Grating three bars of Fels Naptha soap with a cheese grater is really something special.

Check up
I still had my camera in my purse after dragging it to dance class with me. She just looked so cute sitting there playing her Leapster waiting for the doctor to come in. I pray that this is not the photo that I took of her before her life changed dramatically.

A not too distant future
The boys were coming up the road from the bus stop after school and Hailey ran down to meet them. They were all walking together and it hit me how next year this will be the norm. Before I could run in and grab my camera they split up and the moment was gone.

Tiny dancer
Hailey started dance class today and LOVED it. She was a bit apprehensive about it when I first brought it up, but all I had to do was show her the shoes and she was hooked! What ballerina doesn't love shoes?

It is always a sad day when we have to say goodbye to our loved ones. We hope to see them again very soon.

The snow keeps on coming and the kids are loving it! I have to admit when it sticks to the trees it does look really beautiful.

Pile of love
Aunt Day Day, Uncle Mark and Mira and Lainey made the treacherous trip around the lake so the girls could attend Hailey's princess bash this weekend. They raced against a winter storm the whole way! We are so thankful they arrived safely! After dinner the girls and Evan were playing a "camp out" game in Hailey's room. My kids LOVE playing with their cousins!

For once Trent had an early soccer game so the kids and I went to watch him. I am still not sure about this adult soccer thing - I think he is gonna break something...

It was so warm out today. It feels more like late March than January. When the boys got home from school, I pitched Evan some baseballs. Then he and Hailey decided they wanted to play their Barbie Vet game outside.

Where troubles melt like lemon drops...
Hailey is super excited to bring her birthday treat into school tomorrow. Actually, she is just really, really excited for tomorrow. She has been counting down the days...

Trent started on some new shelves for Evan's room today. Hailey decided she wanted to help paint. I wasn't taking any chances of her getting paint in her hair. She did while painting her bedroom and it was a nightmare to get out. Little girls who don't even like their hair combed do not like someone pulling paint out of it.

Just walk away
Hailey and I were walking through Hobby Lobby when I noticed this princess fabric on sale. I immediately tried to think of some way to incorporate it into her party. Off the cuff I was thinking goody bags of some sort so I decided to purchase a yard and a half. There was exactly a yard and a half left. Sign? Maybe Omen. Today I am cutting and sewing and cursing under my breath wondering how I get myself into these situations. The craftiness in my brain exceeds my crafty abilities.

Extra Curricular
I rushed home from a two thirty haircut so I could get Evan from the bus and get him all dudded up for karate. I drove the twenty minutes to karate to drop him off then drove back home to get Hailey from my mom. Hailey and I drove to the school to pick up Spencer from DI then the three of us drove the twenty minutes back out to the gym to pick up Evan. I decided we would pick up take out for dinner because I didn't feel like cooking. I asked Evan where he wanted to go and he said "What about no spend January?" Sometimes I regret telling them about my brilliant ideas.

Like a kid in a candy store
Evan and I were at the party store the other day buying a helium tank for his Air Swimmer. The party store has recently reopened in a new location with a bit of a makeover. When Evan and I came upon the "candy city" part of the store he told me he thought it looked like Hailey's Heaven. Hailey and I ventured there today looking for a specific type of candy for cupcakes we are going to make for her birthday treat. When I told her about what Evan said she told me "Evan and Heaven rhyme - and he was totally right!"

I know my Grama J is smiling down on us today. Evan wanted to play outside after school today but his boots were still wet from recess. I remembered my Grama's old trick of putting a plastic bag into the boot so your sock and foot didn't get wet. She always had a stash of bread bags that she used - I didn't have those so I used plastic grocery bags. It worked like a charm. I think it is time to start saving the bread bags...

Our first day with sticking snow! I still can't believe our December went by with barely a flake of the white stuff. The kids made the most of it by getting their duds on and going outside to play in it three seperate times.

So many Christmas break hours are spent studying pieces and trying to make a fit. This years puzzle is especially cool because it is a 3D one of "the big city" - otherwise known as Chicago.
